R.A. Dickey, Jim Konstanty and a bunch of other cards I enjoy
By Dan | DGood73
I love looking at sports cards. The pictures tell a story. Most of my cards aren't worth very much. I don't mind.
I started posting cards to a Tumblr page - something for fun, something I've enjoyed.
Most of the cards are real. The above (Photoshopped) card shows the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, R.A. Dickey, on a 1977 Blue Jays card.
The other cards I've posted reflect some of my favorite sets, players and images. 1952 Topps Jim Konstanty. 1909-11 T206 Barney Pelty. Ken Caminiti. 2001 Bowman Heritage Hank Blalock ... still hopeful for that one!
And then there's 1953 Bowman Color, one of the most beautiful sets of all-time. The images are so personal and special, magically capturing the innocence, youth, greatness and gold of 1950s baseball.
Who can forget Steve Lake and his parrot "Ruffles" together on a 1991 Studio card? Or Tony Gwynn fishing in 1997 Upper Deck? Card collecting is a special hobby, and it's fun to see players and moments commemorated on cardboard.

Some pretty cool cards there.
ReplyDeleteI love '53 Bowman. Got my first cards from that set just a couple of weeks ago.
Cards are gorgeous, aren't they? Pictures pop - windows into special moments with special players.
DeleteI like you RA Dickey 77 Topps better then the one put together by MLB.com on the 2013 Fantasy preview. At least you got the colors right.
ReplyDeleteHa thank you! Gotta pay attention to detail with these sorts of things.
